From the St. Louis Post Dispatch in 2014, when a female reader chastised me for not having a heart, for not wanting to re-build Ferguson MO after the folks there destroyed their own neighborhood.

----------------------------------------------
A lady on the St. Louis Post Dispatch asked me where I lost my heart, as we discussed re-building Ferguson through a public donation program, and I expressed my disagreement with this approach. My response:
I guess after 63 years of watching great progress in this once great country get beat down, turned around, and thrown out and ignored, that is where I lost my heart. I guess I lost it when the Mil. Indus. Complex overran American govt leaders and all common sense, to build a defense budget greater than some countries. I lost it when we shot JFK because he wanted peace and was taking great strides in his own way to get us there. His speech at American Un. in 1963 was one of the best Ted Sorenson ever wrote for him. Gone. All that hope for world peace, gone, and instead, American people settle for more war memorials. I lost it when I was told to go sit in a foxhole with the instructions not to shoot back if shot at, then called a baby killer upon arriving home. I lost it when the Dulles faction in govt. and his own Joint Chiefs of Staff betrayed him, along with Averill Harrimann. I lost it when our Supreme Court gave in to Big Business and allowed unlimited campaign contributions, and offshore accounts to avoid taxes, and supported tax loopholes and any attempts to fix and eliminate them, and ruled in several recent school integration cases with decisions that have set back all progress since 1954. I lost it when our president chose the auto and bank industries to bail out, to the aversion of all others, at my expense, and yours. GM now is healthier than ever, merrily building and selling in China and making gross amounts of profit, none of which is spent in the U.S. Not a single banker has gone to jail, or even been charged, for the home loan fraud 7 years ago perpretrated knowlingly upon the country. Tax dodges in the Cayman Islands with the full knowledge and support of Congress, so ineffective it can't even reach across the aisle to talk to one another. I lost it when Congress refused to fund Education to the states, who in turn refuse to fund their districts, yet find it not a big problem, to offer retail incentives to Wal Mart and Sears and others, and tax incentives; and to subsidize farmers who are making records profits anyway. The Farm Bill this year was $956B, for a FDR dinosaur of a program that Congress has admitted publicly they do not know how to fix. I lost it when we let our inner cities crumble and ignored our fellow citizens who still live and work and play there, trying to make good lives from lousy tenements, worse schools, and unsafe paths to and from both. I lost it when only about a third of eligible voters bothered to do so in mid-terms, and the fact that we haven't had 60% participation in a presidential election since 1968. We sure like our reality t.v. programs and our cell phones, though. I lost it when one preident started a war costing billons of dollars and thousands of live from all concerned, in a futile search for wmd. I lost it when a president attacked a Middle East country that wasn't bothering us. I lost it when our war in Afghanistan reached the 14 year mark, with a minimum two more years to go. I lost it when I read our govt has spent $7.6B to fight the Afghanistan opium crop, yet it produced record levels in 2013, which are expected to be surpassed this year. I lost it when our president authorized $6B to go to Africa to fight Ebola, from our empty treasury. I lost it when I realized we still live in under a nuclear cloud on the tip of a mountain of debt, ready to fall into national bankrupticy and international disgrace. This, is when I lost it. How about you?

Nate White, UK writer, responded brilliantly when asked, "Why do the British people despise Donald Trump?"
"A few things spring to mind.
Trump lacks certain qualities which the British traditionally esteem.
For instance, he has no class, no charm, no coolness, no credibility, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility, no honour and no grace - all qualities, funnily enough, with which his predecessor Mr. Obama was generously blessed.
So for us, the stark contrast does rather throw Trump’s limitations into embarrassingly sharp relief.
Plus, we like a laugh. And while Trump may be laughable, he has never once said anything wry, witty or even faintly amusing - not once, ever.
I don’t say that rhetorically, I mean it quite literally: not once, not ever. And that fact is particularly disturbing to the British sensibility - for us, to lack humour is almost inhuman.
But with Trump, it’s a fact. He doesn’t even seem to understand what a joke is - his idea of a joke is a crass comment, an illiterate insult, a casual act of cruelty.
Trump is a troll. And like all trolls, he is never funny and he never laughs; he only crows or jeers.
And scarily, he doesn’t just talk in crude, witless insults - he actually thinks in them. His mind is a simple bot-like algorithm of petty prejudices and knee-jerk nastiness.
There is never any under-layer of irony, complexity, nuance or depth. It’s all surface.
Some Americans might see this as refreshingly upfront.
Well, we don’t. We see it as having no inner world, no soul.
And in Britain we traditionally side with David, not Goliath. All our heroes are plucky underdogs: Robin Hood, Dick Whittington, Oliver Twist.
Trump is neither plucky, nor an underdog. He is the exact opposite of that.
He’s not even a spoiled rich-boy, or a greedy fat-cat.
He’s more a fat white slug. A Jabba the Hutt of privilege.
And worse, he is that most unforgivable of all things to the British: a bully.
That is, except when he is among bullies; then he suddenly transforms into a snivelling sidekick instead.
There are unspoken rules to this stuff - the Queensberry rules of basic decency - and he breaks them all. He punches downwards - which a gentleman should, would, could never do - and every blow he aims is below the belt. He particularly likes to kick the vulnerable or voiceless - and he kicks them when they are down.
So the fact that a significant minority - perhaps a third - of Americans look at what he does, listen to what he says, and then think 'Yeah, he seems like my kind of guy’ is a matter of some confusion and no little distress to British people, given that:
Americans are supposed to be nicer than us, and mostly are.
You don't need a particularly keen eye for detail to spot a few flaws in the man.
This last point is what especially confuses and dismays British people, and many other people too; his faults seem pretty bloody hard to miss.
After all, it’s impossible to read a single tweet, or hear him speak a sentence or two, without staring deep into the abyss.
He turns being artless into an art form; he is a Picasso of pettiness; a Shakespeare of shit. His faults are fractal: even his flaws have flaws, and so on ad infinitum.
God knows there have always been stupid people in the world, and plenty of nasty people too. But rarely has stupidity been so nasty, or nastiness so stupid.
He makes Nixon look trustworthy and George W look smart.
In fact, if Frankenstein decided to make a monster assembled entirely from human flaws - he would make a Trump.
And a remorseful Doctor Frankenstein would clutch out big clumpfuls of hair and scream in anguish, 'My God… what… have… I… created?"
If being a twat was a TV show, Trump would be the boxed set."

What happens when citizens elect a totally un-qualified con man to lead them, swallowing the bilge water of a campaign:
multiple un-fully funded disaster relief projects in half a dozen states and PR, political squabbles ranking above citizen relief
a colossal un-manageable illegal immigrant mess at our southern border, with no end in sight
war rumblings with N. Korea, the backwater country of all time, and failing in negotiations with them
war rumbling with Iran, yet again. Now the talk is sending troops....besides the aircraft carrier battle group and planes alread sent
a refusal to work with Democrats until they leave him alone, the petulant argument of all time by an elected leader of all the people
implementing an alleged tax cut for the masses that actually was a gigantic cut for his business buddies and the United Corporations of America, instead
engaging a tariff war with China putting everyone from farmers to retailers at risk of going under
denigrating a US Senator and war hero
hiring a Sec of State, then later labeling him publicly "dumber than a rock"
inability to keep a WH staff, with about two dozen resignations. The rest are under indictment or in jail.
has the whole world laughing at us
has the Canadians worried about us
has the Mexicans hating us
Doesn't believe any of the above constitutes a violation of his oath of office and isn't "high crimes and misdemeanors". Refusing to work with Democrats until they stop investigating him????? I am past fed up with this Moron.

Referring to Art. 2, Sect. 2 of our Constitution, which this egomaniacal dictator swore to uphold:

"He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments."

Now, I'm no lawyer, just a fellow Deplorable. It seems to me that having, right now, today, TEN acting heads of Cabinet-level positions/high level govt jobs, with no indication of intent to making any of them permanent, is a direct violation of this Article.

Advise and Consent.....he is afraid his own party won't support his nominations. He is afraid of the questions they will ask of nominees, what they might find, etc. So, as just about every other president has done, he has figured a way around the founding document, by appointing temporary dept. chiefs.

This is NOT what the FF intended, and they put what they did intend, in writing. So what is up with the audaciousness of this president, to be so sly, bold, and crooked, as to think this sleight of hand is proper, or legal?

To me, it's the last straw and I believe he should be told to make the appts permanent, i.e. send the nominations to the Senate as provided by our laws, or he should be impeached.

That simple. And that disgusting. I don't care how much anyone admires this moron. This, is wrong, and illegal.

A minimum of 25 resignations in this administration; at least six indictments; and the investigations continue.
MAGA: Many Are Getting Arrested.
I thought Jimmy Carter was bad. He simply didn't understand how Washington worked. At least he had governing experience. Thanks to the Electoral College, a minority vote winner took office and it's been chaos ever since.

One can only sincerely hope that the American Deplorables have learned their harsh lesson, in that we do not elect in-experienced persons of any background, to lead us. A polarized Congress is bad enough. A tilted SC is worse. But to be leaderless, to be lied to time and again, to go back and forth on decisions, not to have any set policy on the economy, domestic relations, foreign relations, military goals, is the epitome of ineptness and massive ego.

Finish the wall. That way, people can add to the known total of 230 tunnels that already exist.

What folly.

What a miserable excuse for a president, bullying the populace, derisive, derogatory commentary, holding fellow citizens hostage until he gets his way, then caving in and leaving us right back where we were 5 weeks ago. He can deliver his state of the union address from his kitchen for all I care.

The American electorate knows exactly what the status of our nation is: chaotic, frozen Congressionally, and leaderless.

I FOUND THIS ON A FRIEND'S FB PAGE, WRITTEN BY A GUY THAT IS TRULY FED UP....MUCH LIKE A LOT OF US.
IT'S A GOOD READ.
I'm nearly 69. I've worked hard since I was 17. I put in 50-hour weeks, and didn't call in sick in nearly 40 years. I made a reasonable salary, but I didn't inherit my job or my income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, it looks as though retirement was a bad idea, and I'm tired. Very tired.
I'm tired of being told that I have to "spread the wealth" to people who don't have my work ethic. I'm tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy to earn it.
I'm tired of being told that Islam is a "Religion of Peace," when every day I can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family "honor"; of Muslims rioting over some slight offense; of Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because they aren't "believers"; of Muslims burning schools for girls; of Muslims stoning teenage rape victims to death for "adultery"; of Muslims mutilating the genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah, because their "holy" book and Shari'a law tells them to.
I'm tired of being told that out of "tolerance for other cultures" we must let Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries use our oil money to fund mosques and madrassa Islamic schools to preach hate in Australia , New Zealand , UK, America and Canada , while no one from these countries are allowed to fund a church, synagogue or religious school in Saudi Arabia or any other Arab country to teach love and tolerance..
I'm tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global warming, which no one is allowed to debate.
I'm tired of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I must help support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a giant germ rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up their noses or stick a needle in their arm while they tried to fight it off?
I'm tired of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers and politicians of all parties talking about innocent mistakes, stupid mistakes or youthful mistakes, when we all know they think their only mistake was getting caught. I'm tired of people with a sense of entitlement, rich or poor.
I'm really tired of people who don't take responsibility for their lives and actions. I'm tired of hearing them blame the government, or discrimination or big-whatever for their problems.
I'm also tired and fed up with seeing young men and women in their teens and early 20's be-deck them selves in tattoos and face studs, thereby making themselves unemployable and claiming money from the Government.
Yes, I'm damn tired. But I'm also glad to be 69. Because, mostly, I'm not going to have to see the world these people are making. I'm just sorry for my grandchildren and their children. Thank God I'm on the way out and not on the way in.
There is no way this will be widely publicized, unless each of us sends it on!
" I'm 69 and I'm tired. If you do not forward this you are part of the problem".
